Peter Raos Glass Gallery is set amongst the cafes, boutique shops and heritage architecture of Devonport. A short ferry ride provides a great view of Auckland city with easy access to the gallery, which is just across the road from the Devonport ferry terminal. Private collectors enjoy the gallery and a chance to see the finest examples of Peter’s work as well as talk to the artist in person. If you can't make it in person then go to the Peter Raos Gallery online store . Peter has worked as a glass artist in Devonport for over 30 years. His wife Prue has a love of gardening which gives Peter direct inspiration for his works of art: the sculptured form of the lily, the pattern of myriad leaves and the changing compositions of flowers as the seasons change. Peter has developed a number of paperweight series in homage to the French Impressionists. He takes the layering effect typical of Monet’s work and adapts it to his own glass, creating Impressionist gardens in glass. As a master glass artist Peter’s skill has brought him worldwide acclaim. Commissioned by Louis Vuitton to create an America’s Cup keepsake for their international guests, Peter designed a Pacific sea garden limited edition paperweight. “… The Pacific Collection, alongside all my other art work, is like looking into a microcosm of the natural world and wondering how that life and beauty were created…” If you are looking for a special gift or memento of your trip, a unique piece of Peter Raos fine art glass will provide a lasting treasure. Local and international shipping as well as gift wrapping are all part of the great service customers enjoy at Peter Raos Gallery. |
